Sightseeing in Downtown Milwaukee

So, out of all places, how exactly did my friends and I end up 8 hours away from Ohio... in Wisconsin?

The answer? Impulse decisions in a group chat. Our favorite artist, Camila Cabello just announced her first headlining tour, the Never Be The Same Tour... with absolutely no dates in Ohio or Pennsylvania. Luckily, she had a show in Chicago, which is one of our favorite places to travel to. The tour began in April — just a month before all of us were on summer break. Luckily, the Chicago show was on a Sunday which meant we didn't have to miss classes.

Now, most people would think, "if there isn't a show in my city/state, I'm not going." Our thought process almost always is: "how far is the drive, and have we been there before?"

The night before the Chicago show, the tour was in Milwaukee. Even though Milwaukee was eight hours from Cleveland, it was only a two hour drive from Milwaukee to Chicago. So, why not?

It was one of the wildest, weirdest, exciting trips we've taken. We drove to Milwaukee on Friday and landed at the sketchiest, dirtiest hotel any of us have ever witnessed. There was a razor blade in our elevator, dents in the wall, a shady receptionist, no parking... I can go on. When we parked my car, we took pictures of it from all angles because we were sure it was going to be hit overnight. When we left to explore, there was a woman throwing her shoe at a window to get someone's attention. I'm pretty sure the hotel even told us that our reservation didn't exist.

To this day, we still ask ourselves how we ended up there for a show, but it's a trip I won't ever forget. We took a nap in my car in the middle of a parking deck, had great seats for the concert, Kenzie attempted to start a vlog, and we belted out Hannah Montana at 2 A.M. to keep us awake when we drove to Chicago. I almost had a mental breakdown trying to street park in Chicago at 3 A.M., and I nearly perfected my parallel parking skills.

There's two main things I learned from this trip: impulse decisions can make the greatest adventures, and no matter where you are or what you're doing, make it memorable.
